About the role

The Social Media & Communications Intern will support IITA's communications activities — assisting in managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and supporting digital storytelling across the institute's projects. The role offers practical exposure to international development communications work within a respected research organisation, with mentorship from a dynamic communications team.

What you'll do

  • Support the planning and execution of social media content across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and others)
  • Create and edit written, visual, and multimedia content for digital channels
  • Monitor engagement and compile basic performance reports
  • Support documentation of events and project activities
  • Maintain organised media files and content archives
  • Contribute to digital storytelling efforts across IITA's research and development projects

What we're looking for

  • Recent graduate in Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, etc.)
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe tools, or similar)
  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
